School is "Too Asian"

Many whites are leaving Silicon Valley public schools because they're "too Asian"

The white parents say the schools are too academically driven and too narrowly invested in subjects such as math and science at the expense of liberal arts and extracurricular like sports and other personal interests. "The two schools, put another way that parents rarely articulate so bluntly, are too Asian," reports Suein Hwang.

White people complain a lot. They complain about minorities complaining about them. They also complain when the ethnic make up of their area changes slightly. I can understand that a little. It's different and minorities are dangerous. As a minority, I won't deny this fact. When the blacks come in, they start taking all the starting spots on your kid's basketball team because of the extra muscle in their leg. When the Mexicans come, you have to be careful of chickens crossing the road and you're forced to live next door to 30 people in a single bedroom house. When the Asians come, you have to worry about your children learning "math" and "science". Oh the horror.

Don't trust a kid that can do logarithms on one hand.

Part of me wonders if these parents are even aware of where they live. Unless there is some place in Georgia named "Silicon Valley" that I've never heard of, I'm going to venture out and guess that this is the San Francisco/San Jose/Menlo Park/Northern California Silicon Valley. Just like how the Future Farmers of America would be a useful program in rural "fly-over" states, teaching the basic foundation to the computer industry would be important to the children of the dorks that work in that area of the world.

I won't completely toss away the idea that less focus should be on math and science and more on elective classes. I can think of many times where my knowledge of music, art, and wooden pen making saved my ass when math couldn't. Like when that Adam guy ate that apple and got smart, math and science have corrupted minds. If it wasn't for those two awful subjects, we wouldn't have horrible things like atom bombs, gravity, and dippin' dots ice cream. Horrible crimes committed against the world by those two scum bags.

It should be noted though that the offspring of the offspring of the early 70s semiconductor and computer-related industry boom are probably not going to be gifted athletically. I don't need to remind anybody that the only white people that are any good in the NBA are from different countries. The only shot their children have is to compete with the Asians over algorithms and synthetic division. Failing at that hurts a lot less than attempting to crash boards with the offspring of the offspring of the Black Panthers at the Oakland schools. Hell, I'm Asian and I don't even know what the hell synthetic division is but at least I haven't caught an elbow in the jaw from a 6'8'' behemoth.
